Attendance
Hi everyone,
Congratulations on getting through mid-terms week successfully! Can you believe it is Semester 2 already?
A gentle reminder to everyone about how important REGULAR ATTENDANCE is to our production, our program and our process. It is really disrespectful to the entire company to miss rehearsal without an important reason -- especially if you have not spoken to us about your conflicts. A few of you have missed 1/4 or more of rehearsal time since we began in the beginning of the month. If you are having a difficult time maintaining your commitment to this production, Mr. Buno and I would like to speak with you. It is important when we have conflicts to not only inform your stage manager, but to inform your directors as well. We count on your attendance to ALL REHEARSALS to make our production the best that it can be. Please contact us if you have missed 4 or more rehearsals. We love having EVERYONE involved with the production, but as we move forward, we need greater attention to consistent and regular attendance.
Thank you.

Rehearsal report # 1
What a GREAT group of people!
EXCELLENT etiquette -- everyone signed in with Jake; everyone said "Thank You" to their stage manager and to Kevin and I and everyone was prompt and focused. SOooooooo impressed....what a great start!
We sang through the divisi parts in New Argentina and the Requiem with the company ensemble. We also worked through some of the recit work with the Evas and The Mistress. EVERYONE sounds amazing....
TAKE NOTE:
The seniors; principal characters and crew leaders need to get bios to Mrs. Valaitis (please cc me as well) NO LATER than January 9th.
Take a look at the following bios for an idea of what a bio should look like:

- FRIDAY, January 6th is a rehearsal for Featured Women ONLY
Fun Fact!: A recit is a spoken and sung passage that falls out of the metre of a particular song. It can both pre-cede or procede a major song of a work
The seniors; principal characters and crew leaders need to get bios to Mrs. Valaitis (please cc me as well) NO LATER than January 9th.
Take a look at the following bios for an idea of what a bio should look like:
John Smith (Actor #1) has been performing for local audiences for the last five years, having won several awards including a Connecticut “Best Actor” prize for his portrayal of Richard Lionheart in THE LION IN WINTER at Long Wharf Theatre. Amongst his favorite roles: Demetrius in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, Ben Benjamin in GOD’S FAVORITE and Huck Finn in BIG RIVER. He would like to thank his parents for their support.
Or
Jane Smith (Actor #1) makes her debut on this stage. She has never performed before this production, but has really enjoyed the experience. Jane plays varsity soccer, sings in the folk combo MOCKERY OF BROCCOLI and has recently been working on writing her first screenplay. She would like to thank the theatre family for welcoming her and hopes to learn more about acting in future shows.
Technician Example
John Smith (Lighting Technician) has played many roles behind the scenes over the last few years. He was Assistant Lighting Technician during last season’s CDA entry THE FOREIGNER, and he has served as Stage Manager for CHICAGO. He has enjoyed the chance to learn a new aspect of the Theatre and has enjoyed working with this cast. He thanks Mr. Motes for this opportunity and his parents for their patience.
Again, Thanks so much for everyone's time, talent and a TERRIFIC beginning!

Thank you SO much for taking the time out on a cold night -- and I know I speak for Kevin when I tell you how much we are both looking forward to working with your kids.
Can't wait for our first rehearsal tomorrow!

Happy New Year!
I hope this finds everyone well rested and looking forward to a great 2012. The night before starting our first rehearsal week is one of my favorite times in the "life" of a show. I try to spend the evening before the first rehearsal thinking positive thoughts about the company, the show, our rehearsal process and then spend time envisioning what the final product will be -- down to minute detail. I have often found that this gives me a great road map of where I want the show to be on opening night and keeps me positive throughout the rehearsal process -- even when things are feeling hectic. What are your traditions when starting a show?
I wanted to share with you all a couple of announcements/reminders:
I wanted to share with you all a couple of announcements/reminders:
- There is a mandatory parent meeting for all cast/crew leaders Tuesday (tomorrow) evening at 6pm. If your parent/guardian can not make the meeting, please have someone email me. There will be a TAPS meeting immediately following the parent meeting -- please consider asking your parents to attend the TAPS meeting...It would be great to have more folks helping out the great people who do so much for our productions.
- Rehearsal calendars will be posted on the Call Board on Tuesday -- and will be distributed to parents on Tuesday evening.
- OUR FIRST REHEARSAL is Wednesday, January 4th from 3:30 - 5pm for the full cast. This will be a music rehearsal. Please be sure to bring your binder and a pencil.
- Mr. Valley is NOT calling set crew for tech this Saturday.....Costume Crew is DEFINITELY called. Other crews TBA...check the theatre board
- Mrs. Sullivan and I pulled a bunch of clothing from our storage at the ABC house, and the Santacora family has loaned us some great vintage costume jewelry for the show. Thank you so much!
