IMPORTANT TICKET INFORMATION FOR END OF THE YEAR ACTIVITIES

IMPORTANT FINAL TICKET INFORMATION for GHSTA END OF YEAR

Please Cross Post on Facebook or any other Parent/Student forum!
From Jim Motes:
First of all, congratulations to our talented and accomplished performers, technicians, and production staff! The number of nominations this years is only surface reflection of the deep, deep levels of talent and passion which our program is so proud to celebrate! Regardless of the outcomes, I am so very proud to be a part of such a phenomenally vibrant program, and I am confident that the upcoming ceremonies will be very rewarding!
Halo Awards: 15 Nominations! The ceremony is next Wednesday (May 30th) at 6pm. The bus(ses) will be departing GHS at 4pm for the Palace Theater in Waterbury, and hopefully we will be back before 11pm, but the ceremony has run a bit long the past two years.

Those wishing to drive with their parents must have a note signed and returned to me by Tuesday, May 29th. No students may drive themselves to the ceremony.

I can order all tickets, including adult tickets. Cost is $10 for students and $18 for parents, and I will be placing that order this Thursday afternoon, so payment is appreciated ASAP. If you wish to order tickets after that date, you can contact the Seven Angels Box Office at (203) 757-4676 . Performers and directors will be seated in the orchestra, and parents and guests will be seated in the balcony.
CHSMTA: Hooray for ten nominations! That's more than the last three years combined for GHSTA! The ceremony is Monday, June 4th at 7pm. The bus(ses) will be departing at 3pm for the Palace Theater in Waterbury, so that we can make a rehearsal time. We should be back by 11pm, once again.

Those wishing to drive with their parents must have a note signed and returned to me by Friday, June 1st. No students may drive themselves to the ceremony.

I have not received all the information for ordering tickets yet, but we are again charging only $10 for students, although adults are $31. As soon as I know how ticket orders will be handled, I will contact everyone.

[P.S. I know that this is a "traditional" day for seniors, but this is technically a school-sponsored event, and students cannot participate if they are not present in school that day.]
Theatre Arts Showcase: June 7th at 7pm is the GHSTA Showcase, and the students have already begun preparing the various numbers for the show! Tickets are only $5 each, and we hope that everyone will join us to celebrate our final show of the year, and the final performance on stage for our seniors!

[N.B. Strike of all costumes, sets, etc. will happen immediately after the performance, and any performer/technician not staying to assist with strike will not be allowed to attend the Banquet/Induction.]
GHSTA Banquet/ITS Induction: Sunday, June 10th at 2:00pm is the banquet and induction (set-up begins at 1:30). All students who applied for admission into ITS Chapter #7384 were accepted, and the paperwork has been processed with the central office for the induction ceremony. Awards and regalia (stars and medals) have been ordered, and current members can check in with me to find out what they will be receiving at the event. Our calendar of productions will be presented at that time, although not all of the production titles may be ready for announcement due to the timing of this year's productions. [We appreciate your patience, and we do hope you all will have a stress-free summer, ready to go in September when we do announce any remaining productions!] Cost for the banquet is free for all student participants in GHSTA, and family members can join us for $10 each. However, all attendees (students and family members) must notify me by June 1st at the absolute latest.

PHOTOS by JUDITH L. BARBOSA

Hi Everyone -- I wanted to give a special "Shout Out" to
Mrs. Judith Barbosa.

EVITA marks Mrs. Barbosa's 9th year taking photos for GHS, focusing on the Music and Theatre departments, and she is so grateful to the students for allowing her to invade their space and their craft while she tries hard to capture some of their incredible talent through her lens.  It is her goal to try and capture some of those priceless moments so that the students (and their parents) will have something to take with them as they move forward, and that she hopes will allow them to recognize in retrospect the richness of what they experienced while at GHS.
Enjoy the photos and don’t hesitate to share your feedback!  http://images4u.smugmug.com

please remember:  If you use any of Mrs. Barbosa's photos for public posting (facebook, twitter, tumblr, etc.)  They should be credited to "Judith L. Barbosa"

Thank you so much to Mrs. Barbosa for all the beautiful photos!

WOW!!!!!! GREAT OPENING EVERYONE!

I'm kind of overwhelmingly happy with how well our first weekend went!  ALL of you were fabulous!  BRAVO!!

Our SCHEDULE FOR THIS WEEK:

Monday -- understudies afterschool with Mr. Buno

Tuesday -- 6pm call -- 7pm Understudy PERFORMANCE

This is a performance for an invited audience.  PLEASE feel free to invite anyone you'd like for this performance.  DRESS CODE:  If you are an UNDERSTUDY -- please wear "Voices" like attire (Tux or gown).  If you are in the ENSEMBLE -- please wear all black.

Thursday -- PERFORMANCE.  3:30pm CALL -- We need to go over notes and review some blocking and choreo that is starting to look sloppy.

Friday -- PERFORMANCE.   4:30 pm CALL

Saturday -- PERFORMANCE  3pm CALL (SENIOR SPEECHES)
CAST PARTY -- In order to attend the cast party, YOU MUST have a signed permission slip turned into Jake.

Sunday -- STRIKE -- 9am - 4pm.  STRIKE IS NOT optional!!!!  Failure to attend strike AND be productive while there, will result in your ineligibility to work on the musical next year.

ALSO:  Please read the note below from Mrs. Sullivan RE:  COSTUMES

Sunday is strike and I'd like to do something a bit different with costumes. The volume of costumes is just too much to be handled in the way we did in the past. I would like every actor to be responsible for cleaning their own costumes and take them home Saturday night after the last performance.
If something needs to be dry cleaned (i.e. the women's dresses and the men's suit jackets, etc.,) I will have dryer sheets for those costumes and will hand them out accordingly. THE GENERALS' UNIFORMS MUST BE BROUGHT HOME TO BE CLEANED (please get a dryer sheet from me before you leave.) The DRYER SHEETS work best in your home dryer at low temperature. Please remember that many of these close are vintage and are borrowed. For best results, hang dry your garments immediately after taking them out of the dryer to reduce wrinkling.
I believe we do not have to clean the soldiers uniforms. Those can be left at the school Saturday night. All hats can be left at the school as well.
If there is a question of what should be done for each costume, PLEASE ASK ME OR MS. MULQUEEN.
We will need all those costumes back on SUNDAY BEFORE 1:00. If this is impossible for anyone, please let me know immediately.

THANK YOU!!!

ALL HANDS ON DECK!!!

Hi all,

Hopefully everyone had a nice break and is ready to enter the last few weeks of production.

Since the you guys were away for the past ten days, I was pretty shorthanded most of the week, so we are a little behind schedule in terms of where I wanted to be for Monday.   We have some great stuff going on, but miles to go before we sleep!!
CREW STUDENT LEADERS:
A gentle reminder --- we are now in the place where I really need you guys to focus on the commitment you made to be leaders for this production.....I literally spent every day of the April Vacation working on tech stuff for the show....I need your help.   I know you are busy....we all are...but we are in the crunch of production week!  All hands on deck!

MY GOALS FOR THE WEEK: SO....what I was hoping to do is to use Monday as a catch up day for tech.....including finishing the program materials, finalizing run crew, finishing painting and dressing a few set pieces, repairing the door revolve wheels, going through the completed props run sheet, assigning hats/accessories, finalizing hair and make-up designs, finishing the projections, etc. My goal for the rest of the week is to concentrate on the scene changes and run schedule of the show (not necessarily in full costume -- rather I'd like to just concentrate on the quick changes), and to have the kids start incorporating props, using the set, and trouble shooting. I also need to do some MINOR re-staging of Santa Evita and Another Suitcase to accomodate some running concerns.

Jake. I will post this on the blog but if you could forward this information to ALL student leaders and crews and impress upon them the importance of having everyone available tomorrow (Monday) that would be great. I know that we have 5 - finish on the call sheet, but it would be great if folks could get there early, and then be out by 5pm. If that's not possible, I don't have an issue with having people coming in at 5pm and working till done. After tomorrow, the schedule will be as posted.

Mike & SOUND folks. -- I know you guys are in good shape. I have the recording of the opening track that I'd like to use and I also have access to the mac laptop that you guys need. I sent an email to Jim to get you guys batteries. I'm not sure what you have scheduled for the kids for this week, but if you guys (or Alex or Liz) could get me your schedule, I"ll be sure to have a more concrete type of list re: the runs etc. ready for you. I"m also happy to have the sound guys working all week re: mic assignment practice etc.

Allison and Karolina -- let's review hair and make up and wig stuff and dressing room assignments!

Emily and Rylee -- Running crew is a huge priority for me this week. We need to walk through each change together and have a choreographed plan for how you guys are going to organize this. We also need to finalize who is operating the revolve for "Goodnight...."

Nancy and June and Lia-- I am going to need lots of help with getting a clear idea of who the dressers will be for each quick change. We also need to look at the spaces where these quick changes will happen. I'd like to touch base about this for Monday so we can be all set on Tuesday.

Paige, Peggy, Christa -- I'd like to go over your lists and to do a properties review with you guys. I did a bunch of stuff collecting and getting things for you guys this week, but I'm going to need more concrete details re: prop table organization and assigning things (e.g. the signs for New Argentina) etc.

Alex and Juliana -- I have some things for the lobby for the run of the show. I'd like to meet re: lobby set up and displays ASAP.

Thanks so much!
